Physical and dance elements preparation on the balance beam #1

The walks – part 1

description

Discover our first training course on physical and artistic preparation for the balance beam.

This bodywork aims to improve the gymnast’s stability and amplitude throughout her execution. However, given the evolution of the code of points and the growing artistic requirements, it must also help her move with greater ease and elegance, with choreographic compositions close to dance-like movement.

With this new training course series, we offer you a complete approach to designing adapted training sessions that will enhance your gymnasts’ performances.

This first section focuses on the different types of movements commonly referred to as “walks.” From the simple step forward to combinations of dynamic, lateral, and backward movements coordinating both lower and upper limbs, we will provide a set of gestures and methodological principles to help you create walking ranges adapted to your gymnasts.

These exercises can be practiced independently or combined. They can be integrated into the warm-up, a dedicated training session, or at the end of the beam training. Only a few minutes are needed to unlock your gymnasts’ potential and help them rediscover the pleasure of movement.

To conclude this training course, we will present an example of a walking progression designed for gymnasts training in the « performance » and « elite » levels.

In a second part, we will introduce a set of movements adapted to beginner gymnasts.

Enjoy the training course!
